In the Central African Republic, building a coherent national framework for sustainable land management is a key step toward meeting climate and development goals. CAFI’s preparatory grant supports the Government in laying the technical and institutional foundations for a future investment programme, by initiating strategic planning, mapping priority landscapes, and setting up inter-ministerial coordination structures.

Objectives

The grant seeks to :
  • Develop a national strategy for sustainable land use planning.
  • Set up a coordination mechanism among at least five key ministries and various stakeholders.
  • Identify three priority zones for future investments and pilot activities.
  • Conduct two baseline mapping studies.
